INFLUENCE AND AFFLUENCE (pt2)

Change begins with me.In part 1 I cited a great quote by Woody Woodson, “the influence and affluence of God in a culture are directly proportional.”

Well, I can’t impact a culture until I am first impacted. Change begins with me.

I’ve found that God has the greatest influence in my life when I commit to the following:

  1. Prayer, Worship,  and the Word- these are the big three areas for letting God influence my life. And typically, these can be also be the areas of life that require the most discipline. They require more energy and attention than, say, drinking coffee.  ;  )
  2. Giving- “to whom much is given, much is required”. There is no greater expression of worship I can offer than to be a giver. Whether it is finances, encouragement, talents, energy, time… we were designed to be givers. It is because we are created in the image of God, Who “so loved the world, that He gave His only Son…”.  Harvest requires seed.
  3. Physical Health- there is no question- my spiritual health, energy and overall creative inspiration are directly proportional to the amount of energy I invest into physical health. God wants us to be complete people- physically, emotionally and spiritually. A good synergy between these three form the conduit in which the affluence of God flows. (see 3 John 2)

I’d like to take liberty with Woody’s quote and say…

“the influence and affluence of God in my life are directly proportional”.

How about you? ck
